India Temples

 A Temple  is a structure design to bring human beings and god together  using symbolism to express the ideas and beliefs .  The symbolism and structure of a temple are rooted in Vedic traditions.

Indian Temples:

         All over the India we have many temples.    As like ‘The City of – Thousand mondir' Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) is one of the seven sacred places in India wherein the people can attain Mocha, as per the Hindu Religion. Every Temple in Kanchipuram is a fascinating piece of architecture.

1. Dakshineswar kali Temple , Kolkata:

Dokkhineshshor Kali Mondir Temple located in Dokkhineshshor near Kolkata. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly river, the presiding deity of the temple is, an aspect of kali meaning, 'She who liberates Her devotees from the ocean of existence i.e. samaras The temple was built in 1855 by rani Rasmoni , a philanthropist and a devotee of Kali.

           The temple is famous for its association with Ramakrishna, a mystic of 19th Century Bengal.
         
2.Kalighat Temple:

           A Famous Temple Kalighat Kali Temple dedicate to the goddess Kali is Situated in Kalighat. The right toe of Dakshayani is said to have fallen here. The Shakti here is known as Kalika. It is a very famous place .One Raja Basanta Krishna Roy Dev of South Indian descent, uncle of Pratapaditya and the King of Jessie, Bangladesh perhaps built what is now known as Old Temple. This temple was situated on the banks of river old Ganga. The Natmandir, a hall attached to the sanctum sanctorum is in the southern side while Shiva's temple is situated in the north-east. 


Kalighat Temple
            There is also a temple dedicated to Radha Krishna built in 1849 by a zamindar of Bewail. The specialty of Kali of this temple is the long protruded tongue made of gold. This is a different appearance from the other visualizations of Kali.


 3.Jagannath Temple, Puri:


            The Jagannath Temple of Puri is Vaishnava temple dedicate  to Lord Jagannath  and located on the eastern coast of India in the state of Odisha at Puri.The Jagannath temple was built in the twievelth century during the era of the Eastern Ganga dynasty's King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva, a dynasty known for also building the Sun temple of Konark and several major Shaivism temples.The temple is an important  lord Sri Krishna and is one of theChar Dham pilgrimages that anyone is expected to make in one's lifetime.

Jagannath Temple, Puri
            The temple is famous for its annual Roth Yarty, or chariot festival.The temple is sacred to all Hindus and especially the Vaishnava traditions and saints old Shankaracharya , Ramananda & Ramanuja were closely associated with the temple. Every twelve or nineteen years these wooden figures are ceremoniously replaced by using sacred trees, that have to be carved as an exact replica.

4.Meenakshi Temple:


            Meenakshi  Temple is a historic  temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India.It is dedicated to Parvati. Parvati consort, Shiva here named Sundareswarar.lifeline of the 2,500-year-old city of Madurai and is a significant symbol for the Tamil people.the temple was originally built in the sixth century.

Meenakshi Temple
           The Temple was rebuilt by the Nayak ruler Vishwanatha Nayakar around the sixtenth century.Vishwanatha Nayak who rebuilt the temple.The temple is the most prominent landmark and most visited tourist attraction in the city.


5.Somnath Temple:


           Located in Prabhas Patan the Somnath temple  near Veraval in Saurashtra of Gujarat, India.It is an important  tourist spot.

      The Somnath temple is known as "the Shrine Eternal" This legendary temple has been destroyed.it was rebuilt in November 1947.
